Rebel Bully Geek Pariah by Erin Jade Lange

As you would expect, Rebel Bully Geek Pariah by Erin Jade Lange involves 4 characters: Andi, York, Boston, Sam. Each is struggling with his or her own issues, but in a story reminiscent of the Breakfast Club they form an unlikely band. Lange, author of Butter, provides some very clever writing and speaks to the idea of kids feeling alone, isolated and misunderstood.  She often writes about bullying and acceptance of oneself and others. Late middle school and early high school students will enjoy her latest work, an action packed thriller.

Rebel Bully Geek Pariah is definitely a mystery and, as such, will pull readers through the story.  Along the way, they will need to suspend belief …. This story held my attention – as long as I was willing to believe that NONE of them would call a parent during a very crazy and dangerous overnight adventure or that they would not turn on each other when they steal a car, hit a cop, and find a million dollars’ worth of drugs.  These antics will be even more intriguing for our students since they take place in Illinois. I loved the mystery, the twists, and the action -- read the entire book in two sittings.
